Experience Matters
Prior to completing my ADHD Coach training with ADDCA (ADD Coach Academy) New York, my professional experiences have ranged over the last 25 years from working in Australia as a solicitor in a Melbourne law firm, as a literacy specialist in Singapore, working in small groups with 2e (twice exceptional) students, to teaching in a classroom setting. During my time in education, I have witnessed the challenges faced by both the child and the parents in understanding the daily impact of diagnosis and implementing the strategies to best meet the needs of the individual child and family.
Further, as a mother of three children, I have faced the challenges many parents are faced with. My children each have their own needs and helped me uncover my passion for educating my family on their individual needs/behaviours. I created the necessary change in my household to support the various needs of each family member.
Shared journey
My story is similar to many others.
I was not diagnosed with ADHD until my mid 40’s after several family members were diagnosed and they encouraged me to pursue a personal diagnosis. Although the focus of my Master of Education was neurodiversity, my diagnosis came as a complete personal shock even though my symptoms and everyday life challenges clearly aligned with ADHD.
I had missed all the signs and yet it explained so much about my personal journey. In particular, the challenges I faced in my personal and professional life. Understanding my ADHD has simultaneously liberated and empowered me moving me forward on a new way of life.
I will be your biggest supporter throughout our time working together.
